Morning Mile 2018-2019

Lindsay Chambers and Eliot Honda visited our campus on Friday, October 5, 2018 to produce a video promoting our Morning Mile program. She was dressed in an inflatable sumo suit, while our very own Mr. Passantino was dresssed in an inflatable T-Rex costume. Their video was posted on the HIDOE's social media account. The last video they produced had over 19,000 views! We had about 95% of our students walking the morning they visited. Many of them were joined by their parents.

Our Vice Principal, Mr. Hosoda was able to set up a new system that will scan student QR codes. This means the walk will be a lot more efficient in the morning. No more red straws! No more mannually tallying laps! Thank you Mr. Hosoda!

Please enjoy the video!

Message from our Principal

Dear Ali’iolani Parents and Community,

As Principal of Ali’iolani Elementary School, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone back for another great year. We are all excited to have students back in our classrooms and hallways filling them with energy and enthusiasm for learning. It is our mission to help every child feel welcomed, connected, and part of our Ali’iolani family. Additionally, we strive to challenge each student to grow in his or her academic abilities and to be ready for middle school and high school. At Ali’iolani, we have great teachers who spend hours planning and creating classroom activities to engage our students in learning. Our teachers utilize research based best practices and analyze academic data to determine current skill levels and to set goals for growth and improvement for all students.

I am honored to serve as the Principal of Ali’iolani Elementary School. It is a privilege to be a part of a community where parents, teachers and students care for each other and strive to build positive relationships that support academic and social growth. Please feel free to contact me at 808-733-4750 or .

Once again, welcome back! Let’s make it another great year at Ali’iolani together!

WASC Accreditation

It is with great honor to announce that Ali‘iolani Elementary School has been given a Six Year Accreditation Status through June 30, 2024. This accreditation status is based on our self- study report and the satisfactory completion of the on site accreditation visit. We appreciate all of the hard work by all of our staff and the dedication of our staff in seeing this process through to the end. For us the journey to excellence is not over and we will continue to make progress and provide excellent services for our students, parents, and community.

Drone Fly-Over

We were lucky to have been introduced to John Johnson through our Friends of Ali‘iolani (FOA) President Mr. and Mrs. Chong.

John was able to film our school from 400 feet with his drone and captured some amazing photos that allow us to see our school's physical space in a different light. He also was able to get all students and staff in a big "A" with Diamond Head and the Honolulu cityscape in the background.

We are so thankful to John for donating his time and energy and making our school a true work of art for all to see. If you would like to see more of John's work please visit his website at http://onebreathphoto.com.
